It is not earth shattering news to hear that you can experience weight loss with a cardio workout. But I have found a cardio workout that is new to me and has really shaken up my weekly gym routine and has resulted in some nice weight loss. It is called Kickboxing. My gym recently offered this as an aerobic group exercise class. I thought I would try it because I was getting bored with my other classes.

I was very pleased with the Kickboxing cardio workout. Not only did I move body parts that I hadn't for some time but I also learned some self defense moves. Kickboxing combines a variety of martial arts movements. You use powerful leg and arm movements with slow, smooth movements that emphasize breathing. The varied muscle movements and speeds have gotten me in shape while helping reduce my blood pressure. Plus I have experienced significant weight loss! Not bad for an hour at the gym every other day.

Kickboxing has also improved my core stability. I find it fun and beneficial in so many ways. It has broken up the routine of other group exercise classes, just lifting weights or getting on the treadmill or elliptical machines. Kickboxing has proven to be mentally stimulating and it burns lots of calories, hence the weight loss!
