The Qigong Workout for Weight Loss |

I am sure you have heard of the martial arts. Well, there is new twist on those movements in a revitalizing workout called Qigong. It is pronounced "chee gung." I first heard about it when my local gym started offering it as a group exercise class. I read the brief description of the class and thought I would give it a try to loosen up my tight muscles and hopefully to see some weight loss. The description said that all you need to do a Qigong workout is your body and your breath. You stand with your joints and muscles comfortably relaxed and feel your belly expand and contract with each breath. I thought; "I can do this!"
Qigong has proven to be an extraordinary experience for me. I have seen weight loss, better core stability and a certain kind of mind over matter body control. I really think this workout combined with the other things I do on a weekly basis at the gym has initiated weight loss in my body. Qigong starts with exercises designed to cleanse the body of toxins. Next, the movements are done to gather up energy so it can be circulated to stagnant or diseased parts of the body. I have found some of the movements quite challenging, using muscles that I have long ago forgotten about, hence the consequent weight loss. |
